FastIron SuperX Applications Business Enterprise | Service Provider End-to-End Business Enterprise Solution Figure 1 shows a network that takes advantage of the FastIron SuperX from the Enterprise backbone to the edge
Figure 1: One Architecture, One Switch Family. This network design employs a single product – the FastIron SuperX – for collapsed backbone and data center, collapsed converged wiring closet, and a collapsed high speed wiring closet to simplify the network topology and minimize the network hops from the edge to the core. This network design optimizes the network for high speed transaction and minimizes end-to-end latency, which is a requirement for converged applications such as Voice over IP. In addition, the FastIron SuperX enables network managers to build a complete network that uses common sparing. Enterprise customers can easily build a network using 10 Gigabit Ethernet, which is one-fourth the cost of fiber Gigabit Ethernet, from the edge to the core using the FastIron SuperX. This economical transition delivers high speed networking and assures room for traffic growth. Included in the FastIron SuperX are advanced Layer 2 metro features such as Metro Ring Protocol that enables network managers to create a ring network topology for easily connecting remote campus networks. The FastIron SuperX 10/100/1000 modules are easily upgradeable to support Power over Ethernet (POE) based on the IEEE standard 802.3af, enabling Voice over IP (VoIP), IP video security and surveillance, and Wireless LAN (WLAN) deployments. Customers are assured a high uptime from any power supply failure with redundant, removable and separate power supplies for system and POE.
Service Provider and Content Provider Solution
Figure 2 – Service Provider and Content Provider Solution As shown in Figure 2, the FastIron SuperX provides Service Providers and Content Providers a compact, modular, wire speed aggregation router. Using a Layer 3 software upgrade with the FastIron SuperX Management-2 module, Service Providers and Content Providers can employ routing protocols such as OSPF and RIP routing protocols, DVMRP and PIM Sparse/Dense mode for a complete unicast and multicast solution. The addition of a robust support for BGP4 that can support one million BGP4 routes in hardware enables efficient and precise route distribution to their customers. The FastIron SuperX uses Foundry’s Direct Routing Technology to store computed and dynamically learned IP routes. Pre-populating the IP routes in hardware enables secure, wire-speed routing required by all Service Providers and Content Providers. Foundry’s Direct Routing Technology also supports pre-programming of any network policies (e.g., access control lists, priority, et al) to deliver advance traffic prioritization of services such as VoIP, Video, and data. These features give Service providers and Content Providers the ability to offer varying types of service offerings from best effort up to highly prioritized service offering. The FastIron SuperX supports sFlow, giving Service Providers and Content Providers a complete and accurate view of their network traffic. This information can now be used to forecast newer services, meter and bill for content usage, analyze traffic patterns to easily predict the ever changing business climate, and perform strategic forecast of resource requirements. 版权所有 |
